Swift stunned by global success

Taylor Swift has said it's a pleasant surprise to find her music is such a hit all over the world.

The 21-year-old country singer has achieved global stardom, but she was shocked to hear her latest album Speak Now had gone platinum in Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia and the Philippines.Taylor said: "Some of them were really surprising to me. I wasn't aware of every single certification we have in Asia. It really blew my mind."

She added: "The international success has been the most beautiful and pleasant surprise. Being welcomed by countries that speak a different language from the language I speak is an honour.

"It really touches me every time I look down and I see all the fans singing the words to my songs, having written the lyrics, knowing that they connect in countries where English really isn't spoken by everyone. It means the world to me."

The Grammy winner is proud to be an international ambassador for country music.

Taylor said: "I love country music, and I love the fact that it's being accepted all over the world. That is so exciting for me.

"I have heroes who have taken country music internationally. You have Garth Brooks and Shania Twain. They really did a lot for country music because they brought an awareness to it. The fact that I have the opportunity to do that too and go to other countries where I've never been before and play music - it's what I've always dreamed of doing."
Taylor begins the European leg of her tour in Brussels on March 6.

Taylor Swift and "Glee's" Chord Overstreet Dating

Taylor Swift apparently can't get enough of the men of "Glee."

The country music star is reportedly dating Chord Overstreet from the his Fox comedy, reports US Weekly.
Swift, who is coming off a break up with movie star Jake Gyllenhaal, has been spotted around Los Angeles with Overstreet recently. The two took in a Los Angeles Kings hockey game followed by dinner on February 24.

An Overstreet confidant told US that the 22-year-old called the songstress to inquire about writing a song together and ended up going out the next night.

If the relationship rumors are true, they will surely provide grist for her creative mill as she formerly dated Overstreet's cast mate, Cory Monteith, last year.

On-screen and real life rivals in love? Sounds like a love triangle that could produce another number one hit.

Taylor Swift hasn’t built up a thick skin in the music business

HollywoodNews.com: Taylor Swift may have a bit of experience in the music industry, but that doesn’t mean she has built up a thick skin to deal with some of the harsh comments.

Swift admitted recently that she still gets hurt by certain things, states Flecking Records. “I feel everything that happens to me, whether it’s a mean comment from a friend or a stranger,” Swift revealed.
She admits that she hasn’t toughened up in this business, but has tried to keep her own emotions in check when she is upset.

Do you think it’s good that Taylor Swift hasn’t toughened up?

Taylor Swift and Cameron Diaz dazzle at the Vanity Fair party

Neither of them were up for any Oscars - but Cameron Diaz and Taylor Swift were the runaway winners of the shortest dress competition at the Vanity Fair party last night.
Cameron arrived on the red carpet of the hottest post-Academy Awards party in a tight off-the-shoulder monochrome print mini with frill detail - although not many people were looking at her frock.

Instead, all eyes were on the 38-year-old's toned physique, which the actress has been perfecting with rigorous bootcamp-style work outs with her baseball-playing boyfriend Alexander Rodriguez, 35.

Before taking the stage Monday at Hong Kong's AsiaWorld-Expo arena, Swift received a long line of Universal Music executives from across Asia who presented her with platinum sales plaques. It's testimony to the singer's growing crossover appeal on foreign shores. Swift said she's proud to be an international ambassador for country music.

"I love country music, and I love the fact that it's being accepted all over the world," she said. "I have heroes who have taken country music internationally. You have Garth Brooks and Shania Twain. The rumored couple made sure not to take any photos together. They were spotted sitting together at a hockey game this past Thursday at L.A.’s Staples Center.
Chord, 22, attended the Pre-Oscar party with his co-star Harry Shum Jr. before hitting another party. The twosome later attended the epic William Morris Endeavor party held at a private bungalow inside the exclusive Chateau Marmont. They rubbed shoulders with co-star Shelby Rabara and rumored G.I. Taylor Swift Visits Asia

Taylor Swift kicked off her ‘Speak Now‘ tour with a stint through Asia, where she greeted (and hugged) screaming fans, signed countless autographs, and never dropped that signature smile. The ‘Mine’ superstar shares a behind-the-scenes view of her trip in a 10-minute tour diary video.
In this video, Swift invites us along for the ride as she hops from opening night in Singapore, to South Korea, Japan and the Philippines, playing a few shows and goofing off plenty along the way.

Watch as Swift shares some girl time with her tour mates — and even acts as their on-the-road hairdesser — in some funny scenes that give us a peek at the superstar offstage. The ‘Love Story’ singer plays a snippet of her ‘Fearless’ hit on a toy jazz flute in Singapore, and dresses up as a geisha in Tokyo in the tour diary — which draws to a close with a short side note from the 21-year-old, unveiling that she has been nominated for Entertainer of the Year, a fan-voted category, at the upcoming ACMs.

Superstitious Taylor Swift jets back to LA with her lucky charm

Taylor Swift jetted back to her native USA last night after wrapping up the Asian leg of her Speak Now world tour in Hong Kong.

Before arriving at LAX, the singer posted on Twitter: ‘Hong Kong, that show last night was unreal, this tour was unforgettable. I will love you always :) Farewell Asia!’

Swift’s successful show might have had something to do with her lucky charm – the number 13 printed on her right hand.
The singer strolled through the airport with the number emblazoned on her skin, which she says is for good luck.

‘I paint this on my hand before every show because 13 is my lucky number – for a lot of reasons. It’s really weird,’ she said.

Taylor explains: ‘I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album when gold in 13 weeks. My first #1 song had a 13-second intro.

Taylor Swift Does Sailor Chic

Taylor Swift arrived back in the US from her trip to Asia looking impossibly chic and stylish after such a long flight.

We were smitten with her nautical inspired outfit, from the bow detailed shoes to the cute leather satchel as soon as we laid eyes on her.
Firsty, start with this striped breton body from New Look. We'e gone for a body rather than a top as a top wouldn't lie flush when tucked in.

Taylor is actually wearing a skirt but we think these red Topshop shorts will be just as cute and much more practical to wear. The draping detail makes them look as though they could be a skirt too. It's a win win!

Taylor's gone for a peep toe, bow detail show but as it's still only February and raining, we've chosen these Oasis bow detailed court shoes instead.

Finally, accessorise your outfit with this cute Miss Selfridge leather satchel bag. Perfect for putting your lippy in, just like Taylor!

Taylor Swift Spoofs Herself in New "Coconuts" Movie

A representative for singing star Taylor Swift has announced that Taylor will be heading up a new movie that involves a lot of music and humor.

The movie, "I've Got A Lovely Pair of Coconuts" is based on the old song, made popular by everyone from Danny Kaye to the Beatles to the Monkeys (Naturally).

However, many think the song was first sung by Monty Python, which isn't true. It was a novelty song created bu English songwriter, Fred Heatherton, an English songwriter about the old 'coconut shy' at fun fairs in England.
However, in Swift's movie, it moves the star around reminiscent of the Beatles films, "A Hard Days Night" and "Help!"

Helping in this musical comedy are members of the band Def Leopard, Swift's backup group and star performances from Justin Bieber and Adam Lambert. In fact, Lambert steals the last half of the show by not only putting on a great singing performance but also playing the villain.

"I wanted this movie to be different than any other. It's funny routines, songs and music, mixed with an overall story of a girl who is coconut shy. That's me!"

Thus far critics who have viewed the incomplete film are giving it a lot of praise.

"Who would go out of her way to spoof themselves?", stated one. "She's like the Lion seeking courage, the Tin Man looking for a heart and the scarecrow looking for a brain. She's looking for her coconuts."

Taylor Swift in Manila

Country singer-songwriter sweetheart Taylor Swift charms Manila and blows the roof of the Big Dome Saturday night Feb 19.

Avril back to the charts

Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne has given fans a preview of her fourth studio album by releasing snippets of the songs online.

The 24-year-old describes Goodbye Lullaby as the “most meaningful and special record I have written”, calling it “sincere, honest and close to my heart”.

It definitely finds Avril in a calmer mood if the preview clips are any indication.

This time around the former rock chick has forgone the angst of her previous albums in favour of a more stripped back, mellow sound.

Goodbye Lullaby is released on March 8.

Sum 41's Deryck Whibley 'Happy' After Divorcing Avril Lavigne

A year and a half after his divorce from pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne, Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley says that, despite their former "irreconcilable differences," the two still remain friends.

"We're on good terms now," Whibley tells PopEater about Lavigne, whom he married in 2006. Their divorce was finalized last November after a yearlong separation, and Lavigne is currently dating Brody Jenner of 'The Hills.' "I even produced some of the songs on her new album."
Doing advance promotion for the late March release of 'Screaming Bloody Murder,' Sum 41's first release in four years, the 31-year-old goes on to reveal that even with the rigors of his divorce from Lavigne, this past year has been his finest.

"This has been the best year of my life for sure," he says. "I've never had a period where I thought it was bad -- maybe going through divorce, at the time, was bad, but that's probably it.
"I'm happy with everything."

For her part, the 'Complicated' singer is finally set to release her own much-delayed album, 'Goodbye Lullaby,' on March 8. Lavigne has been seen flaunting her svelte figure in both the video for lead single 'What the Hell' and in a saucy pictorial for Italian Vogue as of late, generating buzz for the release, which is expected to be a more musically stripped-down affair than 2007's 'The Best Damn Thing.'

Brody Jenner and Avril Lavigne: Ready for Marriage?

Is Brody Jenner getting ready to put a ring on Avril Lavigne's finger?

"They're almost a year together," Jenner's mom Linda Thompson told us last night at the Global Action Forum awards gala in Beverly Hills. "She's an amazing young woman and I feel really fortunate that she's in our lives."

So have the couple started planning a walk down the aisle?

"Not yet," Thompson said. "I mean they're very young. They both have their careers to concentrate on."

But that doesn't mean Brody's mama doesn't think they'll one day tie the knot!

When asked if she thinks they'll be together forever, Thompson gushed, "I actually do yeah."

"You never know what will happen but they are well suited for each other," she said. "She's such a lovely person and surprisingly, she's a real home body. She loves to cook and she's really grounded and very familial. She's into close-knit family time. I really respect her."

What makes Jenner and the punk-pop singer click so well?

"They have the same sense of humor," Thompson said. "They both love to laugh and have fun. They both have a little streak of irreverence which is pretty delightful and a lot of fun to be with."

Avril Lavigne to rock Taiwan in May

SK8ER girl Avril Lavigne, who has become a Canadian icon in the nine years of her award-studded music career, will rock Taiwan for the fourth time this May.

Having sold over 30 million records worldwide and with her fourth album "Goodbye Lullaby" ready to hit stores on March 8, the Converse-wearing, pant-baggin' Grammy winner, singer, songwriter, and actress has cemented her position as one of the top talents in the industry.
Known for her signature gothic punk image and headstrong personality, Lavigne has been dubbed as the "anti-Britney" for her refusal to advertise her body.

She is often quoted as saying she is not in the business to sell sex and prefers to attract attention with her music.

Lavigne recently also rejected being compared to Madonna, saying "I definitely don't like to be compared to other people. Madonna is Madonna and I am totally different to her."

The 26-year-old Ontario native came to Taiwan for the first time in 2004 to take part in the Taipei Music Festival, and then performed twice more in 2005 and 2008 as part of concert tours.

Tickets for the May 13 concert held at the Nangang Exhibition Hall will go on sale at midnight on Feb. 25. (By Jenny W. Hsu) enditem/ls

Avril Lavigne claims labelmate Christina Aguilera snubbed her

Avril Lavigne is claiming that she was snubbed by Christina Aguilera at the Grammys at the weekend -- despite the fact they share a record label.

Speaking after Tuesday night's Brit Awards, where she presented an award to fellow Canadian Justin Bieber, she told ITV2 that her fellow star belittled her when she introduced herself.

She claims she was so affected by Aguilera's alleged actions, that she was worried about introducing herself to Boy George last night. Talking to presenter Dave Berry, she explained, "He (Boy George) was stood behind us... and I decided to walk over. I'm a very shy person... and I didn't know what he would do, and he said, 'Oh hi!'"

"He knew who I was and I was like, 'Oh my God!'"

The 'Sk8er Boi' singer continued: 'He was super nice, unlike Christina Aguilera, who was really mean to me when I said hi to her. You know what, I said to my friends: 'I'm gonna go over to Boy George and hopefully he won't pull a Christina on me.'

"We're label mates... we have the same manager... I remember going over... and introducing myself and saying, 'Hi, we kinda do the same thing,' but I just kind of got (withering laugh).'

The pair are both on RCA records and Lavigne is gearing up to release her first new studio album with them since 2007's 'The Best Damn Thing.'

Avril Lavigne is terrified of falling over when she presents a prize at the BRIT Awards tonight.

The Canadian-born singer is in the UK this week and has been invited to hand out a gong at the prestigious music awards ceremony in London. Avril says she is looking forward to getting dressed up for the event, but admits she would feel more comfortable in a pair of flat Dr. Marten leather boots. However, she has decided to wear high heels and is hoping she makes it through the evening without taking a tumble.“I just happened to be in town this week, so it’s really last minute and the BRITs are happening tonight so I am really excited. I am presenting an award and I am wearing a dress and heels. I will be trying not to fall! I really would like to wear these boots with my dress,” she laughed in an interview with British television show Daybreak. “I don’t know what award I am presenting yet, but I am excited.”

The BRIT Awards 2011 will be held at London’s O2 Arena and will be hosted by British actor James Corden. Cheryl Cole and Katy Perry lead the way in the nominations, with Cheryl up for the British female solo artist award and best British single for her hit Parachute. Katy’s Teenage Dream record is in the running to be named best international album, and she has also been recognised in the best international female solo artist category, where she will go head-to-head with her good friend Rihanna.

Acts including Rihanna, Adele, Cee Lo Green and Arcade Fire are all scheduled to perform live tonight. Avril has fond memories of taking to the stage at the BRITs.

“I have been to the BRITs a couple of times, I remember performing Sk8er Boi there,” the 26-year-old singer recalled.

Avril still a Sk8er Girl

Avril Lavigne skateboards in her garage.

The ‘Sk8er Boi’ hitmaker is so busy with her career she barely has time to go out and show off her skills, so instead she has cleared a space in her home to enjoy her hobby.

She admitted: “I sometimes skateboard at my house. This might sound really strange and bizarre, but I skateboard in my garage.”

While Avril has little time to skateboard, the 26-year-old singer has recently taken up surfing, which she enjoys because of the similarities to her other hobby. She said: “I’ve started surfboarding a little bit. Surfboarding is like skateboarding, only there’s a longer board.”

Though the pop star enjoys daredevil hobbies, she insists she is “well behaved” and her pre-performance preparations are quite boring.

Speaking at a fan Q&A event at the Apollo West End cinema in London, she told BANG Showbiz: “Before a show I like to do yoga, I’m very well behaved, and I like to drink tea.”

The blonde star has been interacting with her fans via twitter recently, however, she admits she is still unsure how the micro-blogging website works.

She said: “I don’t know how to reply when someone twitters me, I’m still just figuring it out. And did I really spell Justin Bieber’s name wrong on twitter at first, and then I changed it? Still trying to figure that out too.”

Lavigne in bizarre boob blooper

Avril Lavigne almost exposed her breasts to fans on Wednesday, February 16.

The ‘What the Hell’ hitmaker stunned the audience at London’s Apollo West End cinema when she pulled up her shirt to reveal the tattoo she has on her rib cage which matches that of her boyfriend Brody Jenner.

She said: “What’s been the most what the hell moment? Probably the f**k tattoo on my ribcage…. Do you want to see it?” The 26-year-old star then lifted her top to reveal the inking, but appeared bemused by her own actions.

She asked the crowd at a fan Q&A event: “Wait, is it that small you really can’t see it? Or wait, is that the other one? No, it was the right one.”

Avril and Brody – who also have matching lightning bolt tattoos – stunned onlookers when they requested the rude body art at Mark Mahoney's Shamrock Social Club tattoo parlour in Hollywood last year.

A source said at the time: “They were laughing and said they had not slept in two days. They were completely, utterly out of it.

“Then nobody could believe it when they said they wanted the word f**k written on their ribs.

“Avril didn't even care that the only person available to ink her in the shop was an apprentice. She just said, 'I don't care, do it.'

“Neither of them seemed to stop and think about what they were doing, it was just one big laugh.” - Bang Showbiz

Emma Watson and Hussein Chalayan take on Fairtrade Fortnight

If London Fashion Week left you salivating for style, the likes of Emma Watson, Hussein Chalayan and Holly Fulton should keep you satisfied with their new designs which will be launched as part of Fairtrade Fortnight. There’s nothing more dispiriting for the fan of fairtrade (equitable wages for workers and farmers in developing countries) than a rail of fairtrade cotton T-shirts sitting ignored in the corner of a high-street store.

Those days are passing, though, as fairtrade fashion grows up.

This month, it takes another hefty leap in the right direction with the Fairtrade Collective, which launches Fairtrade Fortnight (February 28 to March 13).

The Collective, an initiative of the Fairtrade Foundation, invites some of fashion’s most exciting designers to create jaw-droppingly desirable, digitally printed scarves out of fairtrade cotton.

Julie Verhoeven, Marios Schwab and Hussein Chalayan for Puma have joined the Collective, as well as young bloods David David, Tim Soar and Ada Zanditon. Rising star Holly Fulton reproduces her now-signature architectural print on one of the scarves.

‘It’s vital to use fairtrade cotton in a modern fashion through strong design,’ she says.
‘Hopefully, projects such as this will encourage that.’

Meanwhile, People Tree, a key player in the flowering of sustainable fashion, teams up with Laura Ashley, picking three prints from the British brand’s 1970s archive and turning them into vintage-inspired pieces, printed on 100 per cent organic cotton.

On February 28, actress Emma Watson launches her third and final collection with People Tree and on the high street, Topshop highlights the image of fairtrade with a festival-inspired collection.

Emma Watson: Clubbing in London
Kicking off her week with an evening of club-hopping, Emma Watson was spotted out and about in London, England last night (February 21).
The “Harry Potter” hottie was joined by a few protective friends as she hit up Bungalow 8 nightclub. Earlier in the evening she spent some time at the Groucho Club.

As for her new gig as the face of Lancome cosmetics, Ms. Watson sounds like she’s ready to get started.

"It's so exciting, I can't wait to start shooting. Although I don't wear much make-up, I'm a big fan of Lancome products, especially their mascara."

Watson scoops style icon prize
Emma Watson - who has graced red carpets with elegant glamour for almost half her life - has landed a top award as a "style icon".

The 20-year-old Harry Potter star, who last year showed off her dramatic change of image with a pixie crop hairstyle, landed the accolade at the Elle Style Awards 2011.
Filmgoers have seen Emma grow up in the public eye after being cast as frizzy-haired Hermione Granger when she was aged just 10.

The star - said to be worth £19 million thanks to her role in the wizard films and now an ambassador for French beauty brand Lancome - was being presented with the gong by designer Vivienne Westwood.

Watson said she was overwhelmed to be called a "style icon" and tried not to focus on having her style emulated by young girls. She said: "It feels amazing. Fashion is something that I love. I try not to think about it too much. I try and block all that off and I just do what I love and just have fun with it.
"I've definitely been feeling the pressure a bit more recently but it's just fun for me."

Helena Christensen said it meant a lot to her to receive the Outstanding Contribution to Fashion Award. The awards were hosted by TV presenter and model Alexa Chung at London's Grand Connaught rooms, where X Factor beauty Cheryl Cole was awarded the best music gong.

Danish supermodel Helena Christensen was presented with the award for outstanding contribution to fashion by designer Matthew Williamson.

Fashion guru and film-maker Tom Ford was named top international designer, while 28-year-old Christopher Kane was named best British designer.
